KATHMANDU: Finland Thursday gave Nepal a Rs.67 million grant to produce database for digital maps and production of orthophotos for the 2001 census mapping project for housing and population, the Finance Ministry said.

The project aims at producing required census planning and enumeration area line-maps for the census covering all populated areas from zones, districts, villages and municipalities and digital database and orthophoto maps for post-enumeration mapping in the Geographical Information System (GSI),the Finance Ministry said.

The mapping component will strengthen digital map production capability of the Survey Department.
