Ex-minister Wagle released on bail

Former Minister Chiranjibi Wagle who was being prosecuted on charges of abusing his term in office and amassing illegally earned wealth has been released on bail Wednesday. Minister Wagle was released today after depositing bail money amounting to 26.3 million rupees.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case against Wagle at the Special Court Wednesday on finding that out of the 33 million rupees he possessed, the source of only 6.7 million rupees could be traced.

The court had demanded the equal amount of unaccounted wealth in the form of deposit. The court has issued orders to present Wagle’s son Devendra, wife Shanta Devi and daughter-in-law at the court within fifteen days.
