The European Commission (EC) has earmarked an assistance of six million Euro for victims of the conflict in Nepal and the Bhutanese refugees, reports quoted German news agency (DPA) as saying.

According to the report, four million euro has been set aside for the health care of about 55,000 people in rural Nepal including women, children and disabled. The amount will cover the cost of supplies of food to about 190,000 vulnerable people.

Similarly, remaining two million euro has been set aside to help meet the basic food needs of 105,000 refugees from Bhutan living in seven refugee camps in eastern Nepal for the last 15 years. The foodstuff will be bought in the local market and distributed through Nepal Red Cross Society. Support also includes funding of training activities aimed at giving refugees job opportunities.

The Commission has provided nearly 16 million euros in humanitarian aid to Nepal since 2001, the news report said.
