Eleven Maoists killed in Dang

Soldiers killed eleven Maoists in a firing at Tribhuvan municipality in Dang overnight as the rebels were terrorizing the local people, the Defence Ministry said Thursday.

A large cache of explosives hidden in a plastic bag, Rs.33,000 in cash, camouflage dresses and communist literature were recovered from a home and a nearby jungle at Karmasingh village in Gorkha district Wednesday, the Defence Ministry added.

Army repulsed an attempt by insurgents to blow up a repeater station of the Nepal Telecommunications Corporation at Basantapur in Tehrathum Wednesday, an official announcement said. There were no military casualties, the announcement said.
