Eight Maoists killed

The army killed eight more Maoists in operations in three districts Thursday, the Ministry of Defence said Friday. Six rebels were killed in an encounter in Mugu an including area committee member.

Area commander Nain Singh Bohra was killed in Darchula and another insurgent in Doti. A group of rebels fled at Arga in Makwanpur Thursday leaving behind explosives, pistols, bullets, socket bombs and documents after locals resisted.

Eight rebels surrendered in Sindhupalchowk and Jhapa Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ministry said. The army recovered money, 12 guns, socket bombs, magazines, bullets and materials to prepare booby traps.
