Security forces shot dead eight Maoists in fresh operations in Kanchanpur, Pyuthan and Nuwakot districts, the Defence Ministry said Tuesday.

Six rebels were shot dead in Kanchanpur including Suda area committee member, the Ministry said. One rebel each was killed in Pyuthan and Nuwakot at unspecified dates. Security forces recovered six 303 rifles during searches in Tapalejung and six quintals of food grains.
