Police picked up Tikaram Rai, editor of afternoon newspaper “Aparanha” from his office Tuesday, the newspaper said. The Kathmandu district court, where he was presented Tuesday by the district police, extended his remand by 10 days.

The police have lodged a complaint against him at the Press Council for allegedly slanderous news reporting against a senior police official. Several journalist organizations condemned the arrest.
