Police have arrested a prominent journalist, Kanak Mani Dixit, from his house at Patandhoka Monday evening.

Dixit had returned to Kathmandu Saturday after taking part in a couple of seminars in New Delhi and Kolkata. Dixit is the editor of Himal South Asian magazine and publisher of Himal khabarpatrika—a leading Nepali language fortnightly.

Talking to Nepalnews, editor of Himal khabarpatrika, Rajendra Dahal, said he did not have any clue regarding Dixit’s arrest. “Since our inception more than five years ago, our magazine is devoted to constitutional monarchy and multi-party democracy. And, we haven’t written or published anything that could strengthen terrorism,” he added

The authorities are yet to confirm Dixit’s arrest.
