Deuba Congress national conference on Sept. 27

One day after the Election Commission gave official recognition to the split in the Nepali Congress, the Deuba faction of the ruling party Wednesday called a two-day national meeting of workers in the capital on September 27.

The party central committee chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba which met Wednesday for the second time in two days decided to convene the meeting to discuss current political issues, Tuesday’s Election Commission verdict and the November 13 elections, a party statement said.

Both factions of the party have criticized the Commission decision. The party Wednesday constituted eight district ad hoc committees, including one in Kathmandu, to strengthen and expand the party base. Dhyan Gobinda Ranjit, close to Prakash Man Singh, heads the Kathmandu district ad hoc committee.

Dhruba Adhikari has been nominated from Nuwakot, Indramani Adhikari in Kavre, Netra Bahadur Mahat from Myagdi, Kali Bahadur Adhakari from Kalikot, Gajendra Hamal in Banke, Yagyaraj Angdambe from Ilam and Shailendra Adhikari from Rupendhaehi. The central committee also decided to from a Kathmandu Valley coordination committee to coalesce activities in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

The central committee is meeting again one day ahead of the national meet.
