Prior to the beginning of Nepal-India Inter Government Committee (IGC) meeting on Thursday, entrepreneurs have asked the government to simplify bureaucratic hassles and to remove other obstacles present in the bilateral trade.

They said this during an interaction program organized by Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) on Sunday.

The interaction program was organized to forward suggestions unto the two-day long IGC meeting to be held in Kathmandu.

Terming the current Nepal-India Trade Treaty as “landmark”, the participants said there must be an honest and easier implementation of the Treaty.

“Implementation of the Treaty signed by both the countries should overcome bureaucratic hassles. Due to such hassles, Nepali entrepreneurs are not sure whether their commodities will reach the Indian market,” said Jagadish Prasad Agrawal, a businessman.

He further highlighted the grievances of Nepal regarding the matter and said, “There are too many authorities who harass exporters until their good reach their destinations.”

Dinesh Chandra Pyakurel, Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, said the government would stress both the countries’ benefit during the IGC meeting.

“The meeting will certainly address hassles and obstacles faced by entrepreneurs,” Pyakurel said. nepalnews.com pd Jan 25
