The annual report brought out by the Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Center (CWIN) Sunday has portrayed a grim situation of the children in Nepal. In its report entitled “State of the Rights of the Child in Nepal-2003” CWIN has stated that at least 186 minors were killed during the seven year long
Maoist insurgency in different parts of the country. The report has stated that nearly 4000 children have been displaced in course of the past seven years.
“The conflict has victimized the children the most,” the report has stated. The report has also pointed at the abrupt increase in sexual abuses of children in the overall situations. A total of 159 cases of sexual abuse were reported this year alone. Of them 91 cases were associated with children.
