Curfew imposed in Butwal

The local administration has imposed an indefinite curfew in the western town of Butwal from Thursday afternoon after demonstrators turned violent.

Police fired several round of bullets in the air to control the crowd. The
local administration later imposed curfew from 13:00 hours local time for an indefinite period.

Butwal is the second town to come under curfew outside the capital valley. Birtamod, in eastern district of Jhapa, is under curfew since Wednesday.
