A cold wave in the terai has killed nine persons in at least four districts in three weeks, Radio Nepal reported Wednesday quoting police.

Children and people above 50 years of age have died of cold in Bara, Parsa, Mohottari and Rautahat. Hospitals from the area are reporting more incidence of respiratory ailments as farmers are not tilling their fields in the cold.

Air services to and from the area have been severely affected.
