The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Tuesday asked the Home Ministry to immediately suspend Siraha Chief District Officer (CDO) Keshab Raj Ghimere for dereliction of duty for not stopping the felling of trees along an irrigation canal in the district despite repeated requests, the investigating agency said.

The CIAA has also asked the Ministry to immediately suspend senior police officer Arun Kumar Singh who ordered the felling of trees under police protection.

The CIAA is investigating corruption charges against Ghimere and Singh.
