North Korean leader Kim Jong-un arrived in Vietnam for the second round of summit with US President Donald Trump.
The second summit follows the first round of talks in 2018 in Singapore.
Ceremonial guards and flag-waving crowds welcomed him at the station, according to reports.
Likewise, US President Trump is due to arrive in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital, on Tuesday evening.
The two leaders will meet for a one-on-one conversation on Wednesday evening, reports said. (Agencies)
KATHMANDU: American Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry has described bomb attacks on Ncell towers as a ‘criminal act,’
Berry, in a tweet, said that the bomb carried out by Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand alias ‘Biplav’ is not a protest rather an ‘act of crime’.
Condemning the attack, he said such criminal activities are not allowed in a democratic country like Nepal.
Meanwhile, he expressed similar grief with the family of the deceased and wished speedy recovery for those injured in the explosion.
DARCHULA: A person died and two others sustained critical injuries when a landslide occurred at Ratakatha of under-construction Darchula-Tinkar road in Duhun Rural Municipality-3.
Raghubir Singh Dhami, 39, of Naugad Rural Municipality-4, Sipti died on the spot when the landslide occurred this morning buried him, shared Rabindra Kathayat, Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP).
The landslide buried Dhami to death while he was herding the cattle to Byas area from Khalanga, for grazing.
The injured are Mansingh Thagunna of Naugad-4 and Udharo Thagunna of ward-3.
It may be noted that the explosives were blasted on Darchula-Linker road section on Monday.
Dinesh Raikhola, engineer at the Darchula-Linker road project, shared that the road widening drive was gaining full momentum.
DHANGADHI: The Province Assembly of the Sudurpashchim Province on Monday passed a motion of thanks to Prime Minister KP Oli for his address to the assembly.
Prime Minister Oli had on February 20 addressed the state assembly of Sudurpaschim where he stated that the government was able to implement federal democratic republicanism in the country in a period of one year.
NEPALGUNJ: Police have rescued nineteen Nepali women from the Nepalgunj border being ‘trafficked’ to India.
The women were stopped at Jamaunaha transit point on the border when they were travelling on a bus en route to Delhi from Nepalgunj, according to Sub Inspector of Police Basant Basnet, who is also the Area Police Office Jamunaha.
Meanwhile, police had on Friday night rescued 10 women from the border. Police have been vigilant on the bordering areas with the collaboration of Maiti Nepal and Tiny Hand, Nepal.
The rescued women had earlier said that they were heading to the Gulf countries and Iraq. The rescued women belong to districts such as Nuwakot, Dhading, Morang, Chitwan, Gulmi and Makwanpur.
The women have been kept at the Maiti Nepal’s Nepalgunj-based offices.
KATHMANDU: Nepal has won China by 5 runs under the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier held at Terdthai Cricket Ground, Bangkok.
In the game played on Monday, Nepal gave a modest target of 78 runs to China. However, Nepali bowlers gave a hard time to Chinese batsmen to meet the target. Playing 20 overs, China could score only 72 runs, losing six wickets.
Earlier, Nepal had set a 78-run target for China at its fifth match. Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal scored 77 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing nine wickets. Right-hand batsman Kajal Shrestha top-scored with 18 runs including one four off 32 balls, while Sita Rana Magar made 11 runs off 25 balls. Likewise, Bindu Rawal contributed 10 runs off 16 balls.
In reply, China’s Han Lili and Wang Meng took two wickets each of Nepal giving away 14 and 13 runs respectively, while Li Haoye, Liu Jie and Wu Juan grabbed one wicket each, exerting pressure on its opponent team.
A total of seven countries – Thailand, Nepal, China, Hong Kong, UAE, Malaysia, and Kuwait – are taking part in the Qualifier. Each team will play six matches.
The team, which is atop the score board in the qualifier, will be selected for the Global Qualifier.
KATHMANDU: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa has urged the government to form a powerful high-level commission to investigate the properties of post-1991 politicians and bureaucrats.
Speaking at a program in the capital today, Thapa said the government should form the commission entrusting it to carry out its tasks in an independent, fair manner.
Thapa also emphasized the need for nationalizing the properties deposited in foreign banks by Nepali nationals. “The government should immediately freeze the bank accounts of Nepali people,” he said.
The RPP supremo also urged the government to take legal action against people indulging in illegal transactions.
On the occasion, Thapa asked the government implicate those involved in the wide-body aircraft purchase scam. “All those who have been found to be involved in tax evasion scam should be punished,” Thapa demanded.
He also came down heavily on the government for failing to take action against some elements, who are carrying out activities aimed at disintegrating the country.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Thapa asked the government to take what he said ‘diplomatic initiatives’ to bring back the encroached upon Nepali territory at Lipulek, Susta, and Kalapani, among others.
He said it his high time that the government reviewed the 1950 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. Thapa, a staunch supporter of constitutional monarchy, also called for a round table conference to establish a system accommodating all political forces.
RPP Chairman Thapa also reinforced the need for a referendum to decide the fate of federalism in the country.

DHARAN: The 7th Dharan Run, which is being organized every year since the last seven years, is going to be held on March 9, 2019 in Dharan. The marathon to begin from the Yalamber Community Park will cover a distance of 10 kilometers passing through Tinkune and end in Bhanu Chowk.
The marathon to be organized by Newa Charity Dharan and managed by Key Entertainment (P) Ltd. is expected to be participated by more than 5,000 enthusiasts this year, according to Santosh Rai, the organizer.
The amount collected from the event will be used for social welfare, Rai said.
Dharan Run aims to promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youths as well as to raise funds for charity. “This is a means to motivate the youth and the younger children to live a healthy life,” Rai added.
The event is being sponsored by Nepal’s one of the largest steel companies, Aarati Strips Pvt. Ltd. Other sponsors of the event include Prabhu Bank, Yeti Flooring, Nepal Telecom, among others.
Age is no bar to participate in the event. The concept, in fact, was inspired by runs that Santosh Rai used to participate when he was in London. Rai’s initiatives has inspired a lot of youths in Dharan.
KATHMANDU: Visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, Joseph Felter on Monday held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokhrel.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Defense at Singha Durbar, Felter reiterated USA’s continued support to Nepal’s development and prosperity endeavor.
The duo also on further consolidating Nepal-US ties in the recent changed context. Talking to journalists after the meeting, Minister Pokhrel said that he apprised the visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense about Nepal’s new national security policy, among other issues.
Maintaining that the US government has in the past supported during hard times, DPM Pokhrel, however, told Felter that Nepal will not participate in any international and regional military alliances.
On the occasion, Minister Pokhrel also stated that Nepal will continue to cooperate with the USA to enhance the military ties between the two countries.
