KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), Kathmandu has said it will rain for three days. There will be partly cloudy and thunderstorms in a few places of the east part of Nepal.
It is raining in the Kathmandu Valley since early morning. According to MFD, light rain and wind likely to occur in the Tarai region. Similarly, snowfall is expected in the mountainous region.

KATHMANDU: Ghode Jatra is being celebrated in Kathmandu Valley today. The festival is being celebrated annually as per a mythology which relates the genesis of the festival after the death of a demon named Tundi.
Public beliefs that the demon who lived on a meadow, which is now at Tundikhel, used to unleash terror among the Kathmandu denizens, particularly children. After his death people rejoiced by dancing on his body by riding horses.
There is also a belief that the parade of horses at Tundikhel keeps the demon’s spirit away. The faster the horses run, the better Tundi’s spirit is dispelled. As per another legend, the Ghode Jatra is held to mark the start of the New Year.
The festival is celebrated on the day of Krishna Aunsi, as per the lunar calendar, which is a day before the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada and this day is taken as the start of the New Year.
The horse parade, known religiously known as Aswa Yatra, is organized to welcome the New Year.The day before Ghode Jatra is also known as Pichas Chaturdarshi, as per lunar calendar.
On the day, the Nepali Army cavalry team performs different artistic stunts riding on their horses. The Jatra is also being marked in Lalitpur today.
KATHMANDU: CDMA network service will come to an end by 2022. The Radio Frequency Policy Determination Committee has decided to close the service by 2022, a report in Annapurna daily said.
On February 26, the management of Nepal Electricity Authority had recommended the Committee to this effect.
The Committee has taken this decision in line with the recommendation.
KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), the only state oil monopoly, has not slashed the price of petroleum products despite huge profits it is making.
According to the price list sent by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the NOC is on profit of Rs 420 million in the period of two weeks (April 1 to 15), which comes around Rs 28 million in profit on a daily basis.
According to the new procedure, the NOC has to adjust the price of petroleum products as per the new price-list sent by the IOC. The IOC sends the price list twice a month – on 1st and 15th of every month.
The price which was adjusted on February 2 is still in effect.
KATHMANDU: National Development Council (NDC) has endorsed the concept paper of the 15th five-year plan (fiscal years 2019-20 to 2023-24) prepared by the National Planning Commission (NPC).
The NPC, now, will submit the concept paper by incorporating the suggestions given by the two-day meeting of the NDC at the Council of Minsters.
The 15th five-year plan will come into effect once the Council of Minsters approves it.
Meanwhile, the NDC has suggested to name the concept paper as first federal plan instead of 15th five-year plan among others.

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to ban strike and obstructions in the essential service sectors by publishing a notice in Nepal Gazette.
Spokesperson Gokul Banskota, who is also the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, informed journalist on the decision at a regular press briefing on Thursday.
The essential service sectors include ambulance, medicine productions, transportations on land, water and air, railway, communications, waste management, supply of daily essential goods, cooking gas and petroleum products and bank and insurance.
In case of obstruction and strike in these sectors, the government will facilitate the stakeholders to clear the hurdles, the Minister added.
Similarly, the government has increased road tax.
For the construction of the road to access the United Cement Factory of Naubise, Dhading, the land measuring 0.17 hectares would be provided from Pokharidanda community forest of Dhunibesi-9 in the district.
KATHMANDU: Four Indian nationals have been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with six kg gold on Thursday.
They had landed at TIA though a flight of Thai Lion Air. SSP Sandeep Bhandari confirmed the arrest informing that among those arrested are three men and a woman. Details are yet to arrive.
KATHMANDU: Chandeshwor Shrestha from Progressive, Professional and Inclusive Group has been elected President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), an umbrella organization of legal practitioners, defeating Sunil Kumar Pokharel from Democratic Group with a margin of 149 votes.
Shrestha got 4,022 votes while his closest rival Pokharel got 3,873 votes.
Leelamani Poudel of Democratic Group got elected as General Secretary defeating Surendra Thapa of Progressive Group. Poudel got 4,178 votes as Thapa received 3,701 votes.
Likewise, Rudra Prasad Pokharel was elected Treasurer receiving 4,046 votes and Rakshya Basyal Woman Vice President from Progressive Group with 3,947 votes.
Progressive Group close to the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has dominated the election, winning 23 out of 25 office-bearers. Democratic Group only won the posts of General Secretary and Vice President of State 5.
KATHMANDU: Police have paraded six persons allegedly involved in leaking question papers of Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in State 2.
A team from Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Bishnudev Yadav and Brahmadev Sunrait of Rajbiraj-10, teacher Manoj Yadav of Rajbiraj-6, Rajesh Yadav and Umesh Yadav of Hanumannagar Kakalini-1 and Dipendra Kumar Mandal of Kanchanrup-6.
The investigation revealed that cops were behind the question paper leak. Police investigation found involvement of two police officials Bramhadev Sunrait and Dipendra Kumar Mandal of Area Police Office, Kalyanpur.
