One dies from electric shock in Mahottari Published on: July 1, 2019

1 july, Gaushala- A 19-year-old youth died from an electric shock at Bhangaha municipality of Mahottari district. The District Police Office, Mahottari confirmed that Sanjaya Pandit, son of Sidhu Pandit of Manarasiswa municipality-4, died in the incident happened during the wedding ceremony.

A band to play the DJ music was hired for the wedding ceremony of a girl at Bhangaha municipality-2. Pandit, an assistant musical instrument player, suffered the shock last night in course of playing the music sitting on a chariot brought for the ride of bridegroom. Though he was rushed to the Janakpur Zonal Hospital, he breathed his last amidst treatment at 4:00 am today. The body has been kept at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Police are investigating the case.

Meanwhile, a fugitive has been arrested after 24 years. Pitambar Jha, 50, of Balawa municipality-4 had been convicted of a guilty in a case of beating and sentenced two years in jail on January 16, 1995 was arrested Sunday, said Superintendent of Police Ishwor Karki. He was presented before the Mohattari District Court and sent to the Jaleshwor Court on Sunday evening itself. (RSS)

Motorcyclist dies in accident Published on: July 1, 2019

1 july, Bhaktapur- A motorcyclist was killed today after being hit by a tipper at Radhe Radhe of Madhyapur Thimi municipality-4.

The deceased has been identified as Frem Bahadur Rai, 28, of Panchan, Solukhumbu. He succumbed to injuries in course of treatment at the Madhyapur Hospital. Further investigations into the accident are underway. (RSS)

Kathmandu’s garbage dumping in Sisdol sresumes Published on: July 1, 2019

 

1 july, kathmandu- After a weeklong obstruction by Sisdol folks, garbage dumping in the landfill at Sisdol in Nuwakot has resumed as the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s team held a talk with the irate Sisdol folks Sunday evening.

The locals in Sisdol had not allowed the waste to be dumped in this landfill stretching across 42 ropanis putting forth various demands, one among them being the landfill should be acquired by either KMC or government.

The KMC had formed a 13-member team chaired by KMC ward no 4 chairman Bikash Dangol to resolve the issues of Sisdol. The team comprises chief of the KMC’s Environment Department, stakeholders and locals.

In the meeting held Sunday evening, KMC agreed to identify the issues and seek solutions for the Sisdol landfill site within two weeks.

Locals have also demanded with KMC to take into account the adverse effects on human health emanated from the garbage while addressing their demands, according to KMC Spokesperson Ishworman Dangol.

“The Committee will submit its report within 15 days,” informed Spokesperson Dangol, adding “Solutions will be drawn according to that report.”

KMC had started dumping Kathmandu’s garbage in Sisdol for two years 13 years ago. In lack of alternative dumping site, KMC has been dumping trashes –as many as 500 metric tonnes –every day in Sisdol although it has reached its capacity to store wastages. KMC, however, is building another landfill site at Banchare Danda as an alternative. (RSS)

Kamal Thapa off to Bhutan, to compete for title in tennis match Published on: July 1, 2019

1 july, kathmandu- Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chair Kamal Thapa left here today for Bhutan to participate in the fifth India-Bhutan Friendship Tennis Tournament to be organised by the Bhutan Tennis Federation in Thimpu. The tournament is scheduled to kick off from Tuesday and the leader will return home on June 6.

Talking to media persons at TIA before flying towards Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan, the former Deputy Prime Minister said he believed that Nepal’s participation in the tournament would help take the country’s image to a new height.

Thapa, who is also the football player, was the winner of the international tennis competition hosted by All India Lawn Tennis Association before this, according to the party source. (RSS)

Afghan airstrikes kill 10 militants in E. Afghanistan Published on: June 30, 2019

30 june, Afghanistan- At least 10 militants have been confirmed dead as fighting aircraft pounded Taliban hideouts in Gardasira district of Afghanistan’s Paktia province, provincial police spokesman Sardar Wali Tabasam said on Sunday.

Acting upon intelligence report, in the sorties launched late Saturday night in Sarkhilo area of Gardasira district, the militants weapon cache was also destroyed, the official said.

According to the official, ground forces arrested 10 more militants during the raids.Taliban militants have not made comments on the report yet. (RSS)

Yemen Houthi rebels claim attack on other Saudi airport Published on: June 30, 2019

30 june, Sanaa-Yemen’s Houthi rebels said they targeted Abha airport in Saudi southern Asir province on Saturday night, just few minutes after they claimed another bomb-laden drone attack on Jizan airport in the adjoining Saudi province of Jizan.

Both drone attacks targeted “aircraft hangars” in Abha and Jizan airports, according to the rebels’ al-Masirah television, which cited a statement from the group’s military spokesman Yahya Sarea.

Saudi Arabia has made no comment yet on the attacks.The rebels have recently stepped up missile and drone attacks on Saudi regional airports.

According to Saudi state news agency, a Houthi drone attack on Abha airport last week killed a Syrian expatriate and wounded eight others, while another Houthi missile attack two weeks ago on the same airport injured 26 civilians.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition to fight in Yemen for more than four years in support of the exiled Yemeni government against the Iran-allied Houthis. (RSS)

28 june, pokhara- Three journalists were feted with three different awards instituted and operated by Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski Chapter.

Journalist Shyam Nath Kunwar was felicitated with Pokhara Journalism Award-2075 BS. He receives a cash prize of Rs 35,001 with shawl and letter of appreciation. Likewise, journalist Tribhuvan Poudel was honoured with Gajendra Bhandari Creative National Journalism Award-2075. The award bags a cash prize of Rs 25,001.

Similarly, journalist Geeta Rana was feted with Jagannath Sigdel Youth Encouragement Award-2075. The award carries a purse of Rs 11,111 along with shawl and letter of appreciation.

Gandaki State Chief Baburam Kunwar handed the awards to the journalists amidst a programme held at meeting hall of FNJ Kaski Chapter on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, FNJ central member Ram Krishna Gyawali said there would be not option for journalists to adopt other alternative occupation if the government did not withdraw the Media Council Bill.

Foundation stone laid for hydro power project Published on: June 28, 2019

28 june, Surkhet- Foundation stone has been laid for the construction of a single megawatt hydropower project at Patarasi rural municipality-1, Gadigaun in Jumla.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Karnali State, Naresh Bhandari laid the foundation stone for the construction of Chukeni Rivulet Small Hydropower Project on Thursday. The Minister said the power generated from the hydropower would be a boon for remote area people.

The project is being constructed by Chukeni Rivulet Power Cooperative Organization. “Electricity is the most significant foundation of infrastructure and the hydro project would bring out Jumla from the era of darkness”, Bhandari added.

The project is also expected to bring improvements to the economic status of people here, Minster said.
Gor Bahaudr Budha, chairperson of the Chukeni Rivulet Electricity Cooperative Organization, said the project will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 470 million. “We are working in such a way that the project construction will be completed within one and a half years”. (RSS)

28 june, pokhara- Training was imparted to drivers and helpers of tourist buses in Pokhara. The training was organized by Tourism Transport Committee, Pokhara with promotional support from Nepal Tourism Board.

Keeping in mind that driver and helper are the first and last contacts of tourists, the training taught them about conducts with tourists, hospitality and most essential technical information.

At the training programme, Mani Lamichhane, Director, NTB, Pokhara, said the conducts of drivers and helpers are important for the tourists to make their opinions on visiting sites.

Terming the drivers and helpers as goodwill ambassador of tourism, he said their behave and dealing can influence tourists whether to extend or shorten their stay.

Chiranjibi Pokharel, Chairperson, Pokhara Tourism Council, said the drivers and helpers are the key messengers of tourism sector as their behaves are crucial to impress tourists.

Four trainers delivered the training participated in by 156 drivers and helpers of tourist buses, informed Nawaraj Adhikari, general secretary of Tourism Transport Committee, Pokhara.

According to him, NTB manager Surya Thapaliya had imparted training on hospitality, Assistant Inspector Lokraj Bhandari on traffic rules, in-charge of Sipradi Trading Pokhara Sanjaya Bista on technical matters and Dr Mukesh Mallik on health sensitivities in high altitudes. (RSS)

28 june, lahan- State-2 Minster for Land Management and Agriculture Cooperative Shaielndra Prasad Sah said emphasis on agriculture has been reflected in policy and programme to make State-2 an agrarian state.
He said this while inaugurating the National Mango Festival-2076 at Surunga municipality-6, Sripur Kushaha in Saptari.

The state government has the plan to massively install dip boring and distribute shallow tube well to small farmers to increase farmers’ access to irrigation.

He further said the state government has rolled out a plan to develop agriculture as an industry and keep youth force in the country by generating agro-based employment. It is shared that mango farming is being cultivated in 500 hectares of land in Surunga municipality-6, Sripur. (RSS)
