NEW DELHI: Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been named the Leading Cricketer of the Year 2018. This is the third straight year that the Indian skipper received the award.
The Wisden Almanack on Wednesday picked his name among Tammy Beaumont, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran and Rory Burns. In 2018, Kohli amassed 2735 runs across all platforms.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali team that is in Malaysia to play the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers participated in a second practice session on Tuesday.
A 14-member team led by youth cricketer Rohit Kumar Poudel left for Malaysia on Saturday to participate in the qualifiers to be held from April 10-18.
Nepal will play its first match against Singapore on April 12 and against the UAE on April 13. Likewise, Nepal will play against the host Malaysia on April 16 and will compete against Kuwait on April 18.
The team winning the qualifiers will qualify for the ICC U-19 World Cup 2020 to be held in South Africa.

KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane made a flying start to his IPL 2019 journey grabbing five wickets in the league.
Delhi Capitals has posted a video of Lamichhane appearing in a coolest rapid fire interview in which the cricketer has referred the best food he loved is ” Thakali food”. In a rapid fire, he said that he is the proud of himself.
Similarly, in a question, “What is your life-long dream”? He replied, “To play world cup cricket and test cricket representing Nepal”. Watch the video.

KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals, the team of Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, is taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2019 on Sunday.
Delhi Capitals has been placed sixth on the points table with four points from five matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore is placed last on the point table within zero points from five matches.
Cricket enthusiasts in Nepal are eagerly waiting to find if Lamichhane will be included in playing XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Lamichhane was included in the last three matches of Delhi Capitals and he has grabbed four wickets from the matches.
HYDERABAD: Alzarri Joseph of Mumbai Indians took six wickets as his team defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 40 runs in the Indian Premier League on Saturday.
Joseph (6/12), the 22-year-old Caribbean also registered his name as the best ever bowling figure in the league’s history.
Hyderabad made only 96 runs chasing 137 runs target.

KATHMANDU: A 14-member squad for the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers has been announced on Tuesday.
Youth cricketer Rohit Kumar Poudel will lead the team for qualifiers to be held from April 10-18 in Malaysia. Along with Rohit, Bhim Sharki, Pawan Sharaff and Sandeep Jora have made it to the team.
Other members include Abhishek Basnet, Hari Bahadur Chauhan, Kamalsingh Airee, Kushal Malla, Arif Seikh, Pratish Joshi, Rashid Khan, Reet Gautam, Sagar Dhakal and Surya Tamang.
Likewise, Aakash Chand, Lokesh Bahadur Bam, Ravi Kumar Shah and Sher Malla have been picked as reserved players.
Nepali team will leave for Malaysia on Saturday for the qualifiers.
KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane of Delhi Capitals ended his four overs bowling spell grabbing two wickets in the match against Kings XI Punjab on Monday.
He took wicket of Sam Curran at 3.5 overs and of Sarfaraz Khan at 13.5 overs of the match. Sandeep gave 27 runs in his bowling spell.

Both the teams will vie for their third win in the match to be held in Panjab’s home cricket ground.
