Capital’s security under Unified Command

The security system in Kathmandu Valley has been placed and managed under the “Unified Command” to systematise the law and order situation and to curb Maoist activities, RSS said Wednesday.

Home Ministry spokesman Gopendra Bahadur Pandey revealed the launching of Unified Command in the Valley during a press meet, according to the agency.

Parties had once protested the concept of the Command, saying, it was a kind of “militarisation.”

Ministry spokesman Pandey further said army has not been mobilised to contain the movement of the five political parties. Asked about the students’ ongoing protest, he said the government will not stop arresting, “elements involved in anti-constitutional activities.”

A total of 103 student protestors were arrested from different parts of the country on Wednesday, he said, adding that all of them were released after short custodies.
