A month-long campaign to clean the scenic Fewa Lake of Pokhara has started from Friday.

The campaign to weed out hyacinth from the lake is being participated by local organizations, municipality and tourism board. The government has allocated Rs 200,000 for the campaign this year.

The hyacinths have to be weeded out ahead of monsoon otherwise it spreads out across the lake.

The Fewa environment improvement committee, fisheries research entrepreneurs’ association and boat entrepreneurs’ association have been annually organising campaign to clear hyacinth.
