A British national was arrested Friday for possession of 2.3 kilos of heroin concealed in his shoes before boarding a flight for Singapore, police said.

Gordon W. Robinson, 54, would have faced the death sentence if he had been nabbed with that amount of illegal drugs in Singapore. Narcotic Drug Control and Law Enforcement Unit is preparing a legal case against Robinson under custody.

Indian police at Sunauli intercepted 215 kgs of refined hashish valued at Rs. 20 million concealed in an Indian registered truck heading for Haryana state Friday immediately after crossing the border, police said.

The Indian driver has been arrested.
