In a bid to make the movement of people more managed and systematic in the Nepal-India border, the Home Ministry is going to keep records on Nepali and Indian citizens crossing the border through Nepalgunj-Rupaidiya transit from November 1.

In a notice issued on Monday, the Ministry has called on Nepali citizens to keep any of various documents that provide their identification with them while crossing the border through the transit, a report on Tuesday said.

The document to be carried by them could be a passport, citizenship certificate, land ownership certificate having photograph, voter identity card issued by the Election Commission and employee identity card issued by the ministries, departments, corporations and offices under His Majesty’s Government, the Ministry has stated in the notice.

The people can receive identity cards with photograph from the District Development Committees, metropolises, sub-metropolises, municipalities, VDCs or offices of the District, Zonal and Regional Administration for the purpose of movement across the border if they do not possess the documents aforementioned, the notice says.
