An explosion took place inside the residence of former Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) chief and Raj Parishad member Satchit Shumsher Rana at Jorpati, Kathmandu, Thursday evening.

Police told Nepalnews that suspected Maoists lobbed a socket inside Rana’s house at around 8:00 p.m. and ran away. The blast, which police said was a minor one, smashed some windowpanes of the house but no human casualty occurred.

Police, however, declined to reveal whether Rana was inside the house during the time of blast. Hunt for those involved in the incident is underway, police said.
