Bhairahawa survived the jinx of not batting first in a moist pitch despite losing the toss to beat Kathmandu by a comprehensive seven wickets to clinch the Wai-Wai U-19 Cricket Championship title Sunday at the Kritipur International Cricket Stadium.
Kathmandu made a paltry 65 runs in the 38.1 overs conceding all wickets. In return, Bhairahawa lost only three wickets in 23.1 overs to ensure the deserved victory.
The Kathmandu comprising of five International players simply faltered against rookies. Chief guest, member secretary of National Sports Council (NSC), Kishor Bahadur Singh, gave away the winners and runners-up trophy in the prize distribution ceremony.
Bantu Bataju of Kathmandu was declared man of the match while Akash Gupta received the best batsman award. Suraj Timilsina was adjudged man of the series. Gupta and Timilsina both recieved Rs.10,000 each with a trophy.
