Aviation authorities this afternoon forced an Austrian registered aircraft to land at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for flying over Nepali airspace without permission.
The aircraft with eight persons including four crewmembers on board entered Nepali airspace through Tumlingtar via Khimti, reports quoting TIA officials said.
The Jet Airlines plane, who handling agent is Quick Aviation, landed at TIA at 3:07 p.m. It was en route to the Indian capital, New Delhi, from Lilabari of Assam.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has launched an investigation into the incident ,forming an 11-member committee under Tri Ratna Manandhar, director of CAAN.
It could not be determined as to what caused the aircraft to enter Nepali airspace. Authorities are yet to comment on the incident. Details are awaited.
