General Secretary of Nepali Congress KB Gurung has said that the seven political parties are delaying in publicizing their stance on the election of the constituent assembly as the issue of Maoist arms management is still undecided.
Speaking at a press meet in Jhapa Sunday morning, Gurung said that the election of the constituent assembly will not be held without Maoist arms management.
He alleged that the process of the election of the constituent assembly was delayed due to the Maoists.
He further said that though people are chanting slogans in favour of a republican set up in the country, it was not possible to make a republican set up by chanting slogans in the streets.
He however said that the decision of the constituent assembly elections regarding the fate of monarchy will be acceptable to the NC.
Commenting on his controversial remark about the monarchy in Pokhara, Gurung said, “When Girijababu said the same thing, there was no controversy, but when I said it, it has been taken otherwise.”
Addressing a gathering of party activists on Tuesday, Gurung said that King should remain as the head of state to safeguard the existence of the nation.
