Afghanistan will participate for the first time in a South Asian soccer tournament scheduled for January in the Bangladesh capital, AP said quoting organizers in Dhaka.
The third South Asian Football Federation soccer championship will be held January 10-20 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. All seven SAARC nations are participating in the tournament. Afghanistan is not a member of SAARC.
The Bangladesh Football Federation announced that the president of the Afghan Football Federation, M. Alim Kohistani, had confirmed his country’s participation in a letter sent to the South Asian Football Federation headquarters in Kathmandu.
