Five parties Sunday launched “anti-regressive” protests and rallies in and outside Kathmandu. Light rain and low temperature affected the protests across the country, various reports said.

During the protests, party activists burned the effigies of “regression” chanting anti-King slogans, the reports said.

In Kathmandu, the rallies marched major thoroughfares of the city and converged into a corner speech program. Nepali Congress leader Sushil Koirala, leftist leader Siddilal Singh and others delivered speeches on the occasion.

Similar protests were also held in major cities like Biratnagar, Dharan, Birtamod, Janakpur and Nepalgunj, among other places, the reports said. nepalnews.com mr Dec 28
