His Majesty King Gyanendra has expressed sorrow at the loss of lives and damage caused to properties as a result of massive floods in the western Indian state of Maharashtra in recent days.

In a message of condolence sent to Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Wednesday, the King said, “The people of Nepal join us in wishing an early recovery from the flood situation there.”

Incessant rain, which started in Maharashtra from Tuesday last week, has already claimed over 900 people and damaged property worth billions, according to reports.
