Biratnagar, June 7 : Biratnagar Jute Mills, which had closed down several times in the past due to various reasons, has again closed down completely following a tool-down workers.
The mill resumed operation last winter after it having closed down for six months.
An agreement was then worked out by the mill board of directors to resume operations. But the workers this time have refused to work since the second shift on May 29 without first informing the management.
Since the workers have halted Since the workers have halted work unilaterally despite all facilities being provided to them as per the Labour Act, the management is compelled to issue a “No work no pay” notice, it is learnt.
The notice calls for resumption of production.
Letters have been written in this connection to the Prime Minister, the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Labour, the Home Minister and the local administration.
