367 killed by natural calamities

Altogether 367 people were killed by different types of natural calamities in the last four months of this year in Nepal, Minister for Home Khum Bahadur Khadka informed the House of Representatives, Lower House of Parliament, on Thursday.

169 people were killed by landslides and floods, 154 by epidemics, 12 by fire, 2 by hurricane and hailstorm and 30 by lightening. Minister Khadka said that 43 people are missing, while 75 people were injured by different forms of calamities.

In total, 10,421 households were affected and 2645 houses were damaged. The Minister said that the government provided relief materials in both cash and kind to the families affected by natural calamities.
