At least 12 Maoists were killed in a security operation at Syabung area of eastern Ilam district on Wednesday, the Royal Nepalese Army today said.

Seven dead bodies were found at the scene this afternoon while the Maoists were seen carrying away five dead bodies during the clash, according to the Directorate Public Relations of the army.

3-0-3 rifles, socket bombs and devices used in detonating explosives were recovered from the Maoists.
