At least 10 passengers were killed and 15 others went missing when a boat capsized into the Sunkoshi River in Toksel VDC-2, Okhaldhunga district, on Sunday.

Of the 46 passengers travelling in the ill-fated boat 21 were rescued by locals, official news agency, RSS, said. 10 dead bodies were fished out of the river by rescuers.

The overloaded boat capsized into the river after it collided with another boat placed in the middle of the river at around 9:35 a.m. According to RSS, local rescue workers have been searching for the missing passengers most of whom are children.

The casualties and the number of missing passengers are, however, sketchy, as details of the incident are still awaited.
